Dev asks the crowd to kiss her lips during her mtvU Woodies Awards Festival performance.
I'm from the school of thought that electropop singer Dev is actually some kind of superhero who drives around in cool cars at night solving crime and granting people the gift of dance. But it turns out the 2012 MTV Artist To Watch is also a woman who can successfully pull off yellow leather shorts, so she actually wields much more power than I even imagined. Dev stopped by the mtvU Woodies Awards Festival yesterday at SXSW to throw down performances of her tracks "Kiss My Lips" and "Lightspeed," and my girl crush is officially on in full force.
It's not the easiest thing in the world to hold down an entire stage by yourself backed by only a DJ, but Dev doesn't break a sweat. (No seriously, the entire crowd is dripping and she's like, a matte princess.) Sounding intimidatingly good live, Dev seductively sing/raps for the crowd while shimmying her way back and forth from the DJ booth. Cue the dubstep/electronic breakdowns and a sudden urge to chop your hair, and boom -- you've just been Dev-d!
