As an eight year veteran of the NYPD, Emmanuel Tavarez is now pleading guilty to a ring of crimes that he led for over a decade. Using his badge and dressed in official police gear, Tavarez and his family members, posing as police officers would falsify search warrants in order to stage searches and seizures of narcotics traffickers. The group were responsible for over 100 armed robberies that netted over $1 million in proceeds as well as a lucrative amount of cocaine. Tavarez is facing charges of robbery conspiracy, conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine, and the use of a firearm during the raids. With these charges he is facing a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
